Welcome to our December newsletter. It has been a year of challenge and disruption for all but it has been a delight to meet so many of you virtually. We have great news to end 2020: the 2020.3 CSD release with new improvements and updates; new virtual events in our calendar and latest blogs.

What's new?
This release includes over 60,000 new structures which brings the total size of the CSD to just less than 1.1 million entries.
We are renaming CSD-System to CSD-Core in this release to clarify the suite of products at the heart of the CSD Portfolio.
We have introduced a series of new functional groups in IsoStar which will allow users to map the intermolecular interaction geometry of a wider selection of the chemistry captured in the CSD.
In this webinar we welcome Dr David Fairen-Jimenez to discuss his recent publication: Enabling efficient exploration of metal–organic frameworks in the Cambridge Structural Database.

New data and improvements
The 2020.3 CSD Data Release containing 1,097,619 entries and 1,076,290 unique structures. This is an increase of over 63,000 entries this year. Read more.

Advancing the case for collaboration, CCDC and PDB - watch on demand
Two leaders in structural data came together to reflect on how biology and chemistry disciplines might collaborate and integrate for better research outcomes for all. For one hour, Dr Juergen Harter from the CCDC and Dr Stephen K. Burley from the RCSB PDB discussed the history, and future, for their organisations
These virtual workshops are interactive live sessions aimed at training our community remotely in using CSD Software; we launched the first series of three 90-minutes sessions in November 2020.
